Village Administrator
The Village of Chesaning is a thriving, family-oriented community nestled in southern Saginaw County on M-57, 13 miles north of Owosso. The community prides itself on award winning schools, abundant and diverse park spaces and the Shiawassee River which winds through the central business district. Village Council is seeking experienced, creative, team-oriented and collaborative candidates to apply for the position of Village Administrator. The Village is a full-service organization which provides Police, Public Works, Financial and Administrative services. The Village Administrator reports to an elected council consisting of a Village President and six Councilmembers. $1.5 million general fund and a total budget of $3.3 million as well as providing visionary leadership to a staff consisting of 13 full-time staff and 8 part-time staff
Qualified individuals will be expected to have:
• Minimum of five (5) years of executive leadership experience in the public sector.
• A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, public policy or related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
• Team-oriented leadership style with extensive knowledge of modern local government concepts, principles, strategies, practices and techniques.
• Experience with municipal finance, community development and project management oversight.
• Ability to use social media and other technologies to enhance public relations, operational efficiencies and transparency.
• A self-sufficient, driven management style who will pursue grants, service delivery innovation and out of the box thinking.
• Ability to engage employees and citizens to assist their efforts to enhance the quality of life for all community members.
Salary will be determined by the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
